Tamir Rice was a 12-year-old boy whose death became a powerful symbol in national conversations about policing, race, and the treatment of children in the United States.

Born on June 25, 2002 in Cleveland, OH, Rice was raised by his mother, Samaria Rice, in a close family environment. He was characterized as playful, energetic, and imaginative, displaying interests typical of a young boy his age.
